NDS Surgical Imaging Previews New Generation of Products at Medica Designed for Surgical Imaging and Informatics
Düsseldorf, Germany, November 19, 2008 — NDS Surgical Imaging (NDSsi), a leading provider of medical visualization solutions for modern surgery suites, announced the preview of the next generation visualization and informatics products for Minimally Invasive Surgery - the Radiance®G2, NDCamTM HD and ConnectORTMG2. The newly redesigned Radiance®G2 displays include upgraded ergonomics and the latest in high definition (HD) image processing. NDCamTM HD is the high-definition version of the boom-mounted OR Overhead camera. The next generation informatics platform, the ConnectORTMG2, offers user-selective multi-display support, industry-leading HD image routing and HD surgical video streaming to the Ethernet/Internet. NDSsi is providing a preview of these products at the Medica Trade Fair, NDSsi Booth #12F19, at the Düsseldorf Fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany, from November 19 – 22, 2008.
With new techniques in medical imaging and HD video finding its way into surgery suites, surgeons and their staff need clear, reliable, accurate viewing and positioning of imaging content that will enable procedural efficacies. New Radiance®G2 displays from NDSsi offer simultaneous, on-demand viewing of multiple HD image sources on a single wide-aspect-ratio LCD display. NDCamTM HD, a light-independent boom mountable camera, provides flexible viewing angles of the surgical site. ConnectORTMG2 delivers HD content from one or many sources to displays in the OR and users outside the OR, including two-way audio. With viewing of multiple sources of clinical images, these simple, yet revolutionary technologies enable collaborative medicine in innovative ways that will benefit therapy delivery in the OR. Examples of this include viewing live ultrasound alongside HD endoscopy, displaying hi-resolution PACS images from pre-surgical planning alongside HD surgical video, high-resolution video outside the OR, and hi-resolution pathology images alongside HD endoscopy.
These next generation products for surgical imaging are based on the NDSsi vision of Medical Visualization Informatics (MVI): driving procedural efficacy by offering the unique ability to connect the realms of PACS imaging, surgical video and medical informatics. “In today’s demanding OR environments, real-time communications and sharing of information between surgeons, pathologists, radiologists and other medical experts is not uncommon,” said Dhiraj Carumbaya, Vice President of Marketing at NDSsi. “Our leading visualization products coupled with the latest innovations in surgical informatics provide simple and efficient ways to deliver more image content and clarity than ever before.”
