NDS Surgical Imaging Demonstrates Full HD Recording
and Distribution Device for HD Endoscopic Surgical Procedures

San Jose, CA – NDS Surgical Imaging (NDSsi), a leading provider of visualization technologies for modern surgery suites, revealed RecordORTM, the next generation recording and real time distribution device for HD surgical video.  Fully compliant for medical use in surgery, this new device provides a solution for Full HD digital video distribution and medical documentation of surgical procedures. The product will be demonstrated for the first time at the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) Conference, NDSsi Booth #111, at the Philadelphia Convention Center in Pennsylvania from April 10 – 12, 2008.

This new Class-I medical device from NDSsi is a comprehensive Full HD video recording solution for surgical carts and/or integrated operating rooms that features state-of-the-art decoding to show superb quality high-definition content and utilizes multicasting technologies for efficient IT network bandwidth usage.  With this product introduction, NDSsi continues to deliver superior performance to the market, and underline its commitment to surgical imaging technology excellence.

“With the advent and recent release of Full HD (1080p) cameras for endoscopy, surgeons are visualizing the surgical site in more detail than ever before,” says Dhiraj Carumbaya, Vice President of Marketing at NDSsi. “In surgical workflow, the developing challenge is to get high quality, real time video imaging outside the surgical suite. NDSsi provides that solution to medical staff by offering full fidelity surgical video with two-way audio support, whether it’s for procedural documentation or to staff outside the OR using commonly available hospital IT networks.”
Built on the ConnectORTM architecture platform, RecordORTM also supports the latest fiber optic interfaces, provides real time video source switching inside the OR, and is controllable from a centralized location such as an integrated OR.  Its front panel user interface allows for use on surgical carts in less complex surgical environments.  This new device allows multiple external users to simultaneously view and/or record the surgical site details and promotes clinical collaboration in surgical procedures.
